Gibber
in partnership with Tyne Wear Together are looking to recruit 60 unemployed/unwaged
residents to participate in the “TyneWear Employment Challenge
2007”. The challenge will build soft skills and address potential
barriers to employment including crossing the travel to work area,
ultimately improving upon the participants employability skills.
The program will link potential employees with employers, challenging
employer/ employee perceptions and demonstrate job readiness. We will
endeavour to secure Job interview guarantees for all participants.
The Challenge will be run twice. |
Local Recruitment events 5 local recruitment
events will be delivered before each challenge.
Designed to build confidence, increase motivation and raise self esteem
these events will inform participants what the challenge can offer
them.

Employment Challenge 2007

The Challenge
is run over 5 days and is less than 16 hours so will not effect benefits.
(Lunch and travel expenses will be provided throughout. All participants
will receive a weeks free travel pass.) |
Day 1 (Friday)
This informal day will explore employability skills, including communication
skills, presentation, working as part of a team and interview techniques.
It will be held at a centrally located hotel. Days
2 – 4 (Monday – Wednesday)
Working as a team the challenge is to find various locations across
the Tyne & Wear regions, meet potential employers and complete
a task. Each task will be devised in conjunction with the employer
to challenge the teams’ communication, problem solving and
organisational skills and will have a direct relevance to the employers
business.
Each member of the team with the most points will win a months free
Metro travel and everyone will have the chance to win a years free
travel pass from network ticketing.
Day 5 (Friday)
On completion of the Challenge all participants will attend a buffet
lunch to celebrate their achievements, discover who the winning
team is and meet staff from each job linkage team who can offer
continuing support.
Each participant will receive a progression pack containing information
about contacts, agencies and organisations that will be useful in
helping them back into sustainable employment.
